| Ahg Sprintcar Series Takes A Well Deserved Break Posted Thursday, 11 March 2010 by Ken Brown |
| After eight big meetings in just over a month the AHG Sprintcar Series takes a breather over the next couple of weeks. The hectic action kicked off with the Grand Final of Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars at Perth Motorplex on February 5 and 6. Sydney star Ian Madsen proved to be the star of the weekend driving the locally owned Garry Miller #32 car. On Friday night Madsen downed Ryan Farrell and David Murcott in the preliminary main event and then scored over Robbie Farr and Farrell in the A Main the next evening. A week later Collie Speedway hosted its biggest ever showdown with the Hydraulink Southern Thunder round attracting some of the top WSS stars. Brooke Tatnell proved too strong for Kerry Madsen and Ken Sartori at the Coalfields venue. Friday February 19 and Saturday February 20 saw the running of the annual Nanovich King of the Wings with US legend Sammy Swindell in the field thanks to Steve Caunt. In the preliminary main Kerry Madsen headed Max Dumesny and Brooke Tatnell - with Tatnell taking the coveted crown over Kerry Madsen and American Jason Johnson. Then it was down to Bunbury for the Krikke Boys Shootout. Johnson wowed the fans - winning every event he entered over the weekend in a brilliant performance. On Saturday JJ beat Brooke Tatnell and Robbie Farr - with the Sunday main event saw him just hold off the fast finishing Ryan Farrell and Robbie Farr back in third spot. The Perth Motorplex hosted round #19 of the AHG Sprintcar Series on Saturday March 6 with Ryan Farrell the victor over Jason Kendrick and Troy Lawson. Time for a well earned break after all that action with only three rounds remaining in the AHG Sprintcar Series season pointscore. Bunbury hosts the final round of the Hydraulink Southern Thunder Series on Saturday March 27, before the drivers return to Kwinana for the Silver Cup (April 3) and the season ending Gold Cup (April 17). Three not to be missed shows to finish off a great season of Sprintcar action here on the west coast.
