| Lawson Gets Podium Finish Posted Wednesday, 27 January 2010 by Fastrax Media |
| Troy Lawson has had his career best finish in a sprintcar feature race, claiming his first ever podium position at the Perth Motorplex last Saturday and in the process bumping himself further up the points tallies. Although he injured himself the night prior to racing in a workshop accident, leaving him with a broken bone, he soldiered on, limping around the track. However, once in the car, it didn’t seem to make an iota of difference. A best qualifying lap of 15.592 seconds was enough for Troy to be in 10th position at the end of the session. This put him out of 7th in his first heat, however due to other competitors misfortunes, Troy ended up actually starting the heat out of 3rd. Troy took full advantage of this and finished his first heat in fourth. Heat two and again Troy was lucky, starting out of fourth. He wasn’t going to let this race get away from him and at the end he was able to finish in a very respectable third position. Come feature race time and Troy was out of position three. The green flag flew and Troy very quickly shot into second place. What followed was a ding dong battle with David Ellement, the two of them swapping positions every corner for the next few laps. Eventually Troy was able to get a decent break and set about chasing down leader Todd Waddell. With about five laps to go David managed to get back by Troy, and that was where Troy finished, ecstatic with his first podium finish. “We just drove the wheels off it and had nothing left in the tank! We changed chassis a few weeks back and since then it has paid off in spades; this car just works so much better!” said Troy from the podium, trophy in hand. It was also announced on the podium that Troy is indeed single, so watch out ladies! Before this event Troy was sitting thirteenth in the AHG points score and equal ninth with Ben Ellement in the Perth Motorplex Track Championship. With this most recent result Troy has moved up another position into 12th in the AHG points and will most certainly have moved up the track championship points, having beaten many of the drivers ahead of him in the score. Troy is fast becoming a regular top runner at the Motorplex, but he is still searching for more sponsors to aid him in his development. As always Troy would like to thank his sponsors Transkard, Southside Engine Centre, Willeton Exhaust, Ellement Produce, Steve Burns Electrical, Equipment Finance Services, Blackman Engineering and Fastrax Media. He would also like to welcome on board Trevs Pilot Service and ADH Fencing. Troys next meeting will be the big double header at the Perth Motorplex for the final two rounds of the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Grand Finals on the 5th and 6th of February.
