| Cowara Motorsport Want Podium Form To Continue Posted Saturday, 20 February 2010 by BCM Motorsports Marketing |
| Last weekend Ken Sartori was able to take the Cowara Motorsports Philmac backed #41 Maxim to a fine third place at the recent Hydraulink Southern Thunder Series round at Collie Speedway. This weekend though things may seem the same, but there will be some change as well. Sartori was pleased with last weekend’s result especially when you consider the quality of the field he was competing against. With the best from Western Australia plus a number of the WSS regulars, it probably made this the toughest field seen at a round of the STS. “We had a good run all night really” he said after the meeting “It was a tough track this weekend and I thought we did a great job. When we restarted after that last yellow the car tightened up quite a bit and it made it hard in the closing laps, but I knew you couldn’t pass around the top by then so I just hugged the bottom and made sure I bought it home in third place.” Being smart has seen Sartori extend his lead in the series and with one round of the ‘Series within a Series’ left to run he has set himself up in a commanding position to take out a series win after the next round at Bunbury. The third place finish has also shown that the team is on the pace when they hit the country tracks still, but are concerned with their consistency and speed at the Perth Motorplex, so a decision has been made. Since changing to the new Maxim chassis that they debuted a couple of weeks a go the team has struggled to find a reliable set up with it, so this weekend will see the team suit up in one of Sartori’s own Cool cars from last season. “I know this car back to front and I know it’s quick around Kwinana. It’s a car I really understand well and I want to make sure we can be on the pace early from time trials at the King of the Wings which is where we got ourselves in to trouble at the recent World Series round. If we can get going form the first laps instead of trying to dig ourselves out of a hole like we were a couple of weeks ago then I believe we can be up there for the final on Saturday.” Sartori said this week. It’s a case of wait and see, and while some might see it as a bit of a risk to try this on such a big weekend, for Sartori it’s like reuniting with an old friend. The car has shown to be a quick one in the past and with the driver and team still on a high from last weekend’s third place, the chances of scoring a big win for the Cowara Motorsports team are looking good for this Saturday night.
