| Lawson Strikes Back Posted Thursday, 11 March 2010 by Fastrax Media |
| After a forgettable last few meetings, Troy Lawson Motorsport (TLM) has put the bad results behind them to score another fine third placing at the Perth Motorplex last weekend. Troy had quite possibly the best meeting of his entire season, time trialling in 8th quick with a 16.425 second lap. This put him off the back for both of his heats, both of which he managed to finish, in 8th and 9th positions respectively. “We decided to use the heats as an experiment, trying new things with the car, like different bars, but no matter what we tried nothing worked and we went backwards. We always knew what setup we were going to use for the final though, we went back to what we knew” said Troy. Come the A Main and Troy was starting out of position four on the grid. He got an awesome start and quickly settled into third position behind Jason Kendrick and leader Ben Ellement. Ben and Jason began to pull away and Troy settled into a good rhythm, putting together many consistently fast laps. He was passed by Ryan Farrell and Kerry Madsen, putting him at his lowest point of the race in fifth. However, both Ben Ellement and Kerry Madsen pulled out of the event, leaving Troy in third. A restart occurred late in the race, which gave Troy a chance to regroup for the run to the chequered flag. At the restart, and with other top drivers pressing behind him, Troy drove the race of his life to finish a fine third. Given a few more laps and Troy may just have snuck into second spot! So Troy got his second podium for the season (with a left rear tyre that was very quickly deflating) and was again interviewed on the podium. “We have worked pretty hard on the car and got it back to where it should be...Getting beaten by Farrell; we can cop that on the chin anyday” he said. Speaking to him on Monday afternoon as he washed the sprintcar, Troy was still on a high. “Our results are starting to speak for themselves; we may not be the highest budget race team in the pits or have the fanciest transporter but we have the best crew in my view and we do our racing on the track; not in the pits!” Troys dad Bugs was equally as happy; “Considering the teams aim at the start of the season was to finish in the top ten once, we have done remarkably well, with four top ten finishes; a sixth, a fourth and two third places! Pretty good for a team based out of a two car garage! We are still on the lookout for some new sponsors to help us for the rest of this season and into next season though!” So if anyone wants to get behind Troy Kinser...oops, I mean Troy Lawson, come down and see him and the team at the end of the meeting, or contact them via Fastrax Media at fastraxmedia@hotmail.com. Troy would once again like to thank his sponsors Trev’s Pilot Service, ADH Fencing, Transkard, Southside Engine Centre, Willetton Exhaust, Ellement Produce, Steve Burns Electrical, Equipment Finance Services, Blackman Engineering and Fastrax Media, as well as all his crew for the massive effort they have put into the car over the past few weeks. TLM now has a break for a few weeks before they make their return to the Kwinana Motorplex on the 3rd of April for the Silver Cup. See you at the track! Words by Scott Beattie for Fastrax Media.
