We will give it our best shot - Kendrick

THE 92.9 Kendrick Racing team is looking to capitalise on good car speed when round two of the AHG Sprintcar Series is held at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night.

Team driver Jason Kendrick came in strong in the final stages of the first feature for the season on October 21 but unfortunately crashed out on the last lap when challenging for the lead, ultimately recording a DNF.

"We were fast from the start of the night, winning the Vortex Wings time trial shootout and looked very strong in the final stages of the race, but just needed a bit of luck to go our way," team boss Geoff Kendrick said.

"We are happy with the way Jason was driving, he did a good job."

It was a hectic build up for the team, having spent so much time on building the new trailer.

"In the end I was working on the car and rest of the guys were working on the trailer."

The trailer is not expected to be completely finished for a few weeks yet, but is operational.

Kendrick said contact between the two cars in the last feature race was unfortunate and showed how competitive everyone needs to be to win this season.

"There were a lot of very fast race cars on the night and it is a good indication of what we can expect this year...it's great for everyone and great for the fans as well."

Kendrick wanted to thank everyone who is backing the team again this year and was very appreciative of support in getting the trailer ready.

"I want to thank Pino Priolo and his family, they have helped us immensely in the off-season when we worked on the new hauler.

"I also want to thank Rob Watson senior and junior from Watsons Express Transport for organising to get our trailer over from Melbourne when it was initially built.

"They also transported our interior cupboards across the country after they were built in America.

"And thank you to all of our sponsors for coming onboard, we are grateful for their support and extremely appreciative...we are looking forward to a safe and successful season."

The team's priority this weekend is to claim a good result in the Magic Man 34 and honour the late Michael Figliomeni.

"Michael was a great man and we have been friends with the Figliomeni family for many years.

“Like a lot of teams a win in this race means a lot to so many this Saturday.

"We will be giving it our best shot."
