Priolo - one more time!

"The aim of the night is not to win - it is to say thanks, have fun with my family and mates and then have a party at the end of it."

That was David Priolo's response as to why he is contesting the Merger Contracting Gold Cup Super Speedway Grand Final at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night.

Priolo announced he has retired from racing immediately after contesting the World Series Sprintcars final here on February 25.

He did it without much fanfare and had planned to quietly slip into the role as spectator and crew for his brother Andrew who is going to keep racing.

But after a lot of support from family and friends Priolo has decided to race one more time – meaning racefans will get to say a proper goodbye at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday.

The former WA champion is looking forward to the farewell race that will see all sprintcar drivers seeded into one round of heat races at the start of the night before contesting two feature races – that’s right – twin features!

The Silver Cup feature race will be over 20 laps and will be followed by the Gold Cup feature race over 30 laps.

Nominations: David Priolo Danny Porter, Andrew Priolo, Daniel Harding, Jason Pryde, Ben Ellement, Luke Dillon, Darren Mewett, Shaun Bradford, Robert Watson junior, Brad Maiolo, Scott Chatwin, Carl Dowling, Kye Scroop, Jason Kendrick and Jamie Maiolo.
