Back to back for Maiolo

BRAD Maiolo has won back-to-back championships in the AHG Sprintcar Series after securing enough points in the final round at Quit Bunbury Speedway on Saturday night.

Maiolo pretty much wrapped up the 2016-17 series by the fact that he started the preliminary feature race on the first night of the Krikke Boys Shootout at the South West venue.

Unfortunately he crashed out in the first corner with just one lap in the books, but unless his main rival Jason Kendrick went on to win the feature race, the championship was Maiolo’s

For the record Kendrick crossed the line in sixth, massively reducing the margin, but it was too little, too late – Maiolo’s consistency throughout the season was enough to win the series again.

Ben Ellement, who was in the running for much of the season, and is a former winner of the series, finished third overall.

James Inglis, in only his second series of racing, was consistent enough to take fourth while Mitchell Wormall, who didn’t compete in the final round, was fifth.
