Priolo heartbroken after losing lead

Can David Priolo break thorugh for the win this weekend? Pic by Peter Roebuck.

TWO runner up placings in the last two shows…is David Priolo just about to turn the corner and claim his first feature race win in the 2014-15 AHG Sprintcar Series?

The second-generation ace will certainly be hoping so when he heads to Quit Bunbury Speedway this Saturday night to be part of the round five action.

Priolo started on the front row with fellow Watsons Express Transport racer Ken Sartori and was in a commanding position at the end of the race when he suffered front axle damage and holding on to finish second to Cameron Gessner.

This is what he said at the end of the race…

“First up I would like to thank Frank Scardifield (event sponsor and Priolo sponsor Scardifields Smash Repaits), a great supporter of sprintcar racing in this state, it would have been great to get a win for him and all our sponsors.

I think we had it won, we just broke an axle on the last lap and the steering wheel was going where I wanted it to but the wheels were going in the opposite direction, I am just heart-broken really, I wanted this one really bad.

I really want to get a win for my car owner, he is such an awesome bloke Rob Watson and his family and the team behind me, led by my brother , my dad and everyone else who helps me out.

Yeah that was awesome and Kenny is a hell of a racer (talking of the all-Watsons Express Transport front row), mate that guy has been out of the sport for two years and mate he was racing with me as hard as anyone and just awesome, just clean and we both didn’t want to give an inch, we both wanted to win so bad for the same reason for an awesome car owner and unfortunately I am not sure what happened there but it would have been great to battle him at the front there.

But full credit to Cameron, he picked up the pieces that we laid down and he was fast all way, we were lucky to get past him on that last restart to be honest and we will come back and try next year for a better result.”

See David Priolo and the rest of the pack in action at Bunbury this Saturday night.
