Kendrick Team Has No Case To Answer

Charges laid against Kendrick Racing by the National Association of Speedway Racing in May have been dropped.
Team principal Geoff Kendrick, who has just returned from the 50th Knoxville Nationals in Ohio, has confirmed he has received advice that the charges against himself and drivers Jason Kendrick and Kerry Madsen, no longer existed.
The team has received official notification from the National Association of Speedway Racing and the Sprintcar Control Council of Australia saying they have nothing to answer to.
The issue raised its ugly head at the Australian Sprintcar Championships in Darwin in May which stemmed from an on-track incident between Madsen and another driver which ended the Sydney driver’s bid to win another national trophy.
The team was charged with bringing the sport into disrepute when team members were spotted in the caravan park where the other driver was staying the next day.
“Everyone has seen the footage taken the next day and there has been much talk about what did or did not happen so there is no need for us to go over old ground, particularly now we have been told we have no case to answer to,” Kendrick said.
“But I am pleased that common sense has prevailed and that we can move on from this.
“Unfortunately we have lost a lot of time and wasted a lot of resources dealing with certain allegations and while everyone in the country decided to play judge and juror we just had to sit there and wait for the investigation process to take its course.”
Kendrick hoped everyone learnt from the issue and he was keen to move on to the new season.
On a positive note he was happy to see Madsen, driving for the fellow WA-based Hall team, finish fifth in the 50-lap Knoxville Nationals.
The event was won by Tim Shaffer who also driven for the Kendrick Racing outfit.
“We had an enjoyable trip in America and hopefully over the next couple of weeks we can announce our driving roster for our upcoming Australian season.
“More will be announced very soon.”
