ON the back of his victory in the 2014-15 AHG Sprintcar Series Championship a few weeks back Cameron Gessner is a strong chance of winning the Perth Motorplex Wormall Civil Sprintcar track championship.
Heading into the penultimate round in Perth this Saturday night Gessner has 1053 points to lead from Ryan Farrell on 1030, Jason Kendrick 1020, Jamie Maiolo 1008 and Shaun Bradford 999.
Points are only awarded on feature race finishes with a win paying 100 points, runner up getting 99, third 98 and so on with a DNF getting 79.
Gessner was fourth in the last round on March 28 but has been consistent in the 11 rounds so far, including a win in the King of Wings back in November.
On top of that he has been runner up once, third three times and fourth twice.
Farrell started the Perth season off with a win, one of four Perth wins so far this season.
He has also been runner up three times.
Motorplex feature race wins so far: Ryan Farrell 4, Cameron Gessner, Jason Kendrick, Jamie Maiolo, Shaun Bradford, David Priolo, David Murcott and Kerry Madsen one each.
This Saturday night’s round is the DiCandilo Steel City Silver Cup to be run over 30 laps and it is also round two of the AHG Triple Crown.
